Energy

Connect an energy resource to a specific customer and a deliverable project. Generation, local supply, storage and efficiency opportunities depend on technical feasibility, site access and a credible route to revenue.

The enterprise perspective

Where value
can be created.

  • Solar generation and storage
  • Hydropower and other generation
  • Biomass and waste-to-energy
  • Commercial and industrial energy supply
  • Transmission, distribution and energy services

A useful starting point

Build the case,
one question at a time.

Bring the information you have. Unknowns become preparation tasks; they do not automatically prevent an initial conversation.

  1. What will be generated or supplied, at what scale, and for whose use?
  2. Who controls the site and resource, and what technical investigations have been completed?
  3. What grid connection, customer or offtake evidence exists?
  4. What work would establish feasibility, cost, permissions and an investible delivery structure?

Evidence to prepare

Make the proposition
possible to assess.

Describe what exists, its source and date, and what still needs confirmation. Sensitive records should follow an agreed private sharing process.

  • Site rights, location plans, resource information and available feasibility or engineering studies.
  • Available grid studies, connection correspondence, customer demand records or draft offtake terms, with their status made explicit.
  • Technical team, equipment concept, energy assumptions, delivery budget and financial projections.
  • Licensing and environmental correspondence, known constraints and a costed programme of the remaining work.

People & permissions

Know who
needs to be involved.

Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority

Applicable energy licensing and activity-specific application requirements.

Relevant network operator or electricity buyer

Grid, connection and offtake arrangements relevant to the proposed customer.

Environmental Management Agency and relevant land/water authorities

Applicable environmental, site and resource permissions.

Generation for own use, sales to an identified customer and grid supply can require different preparation and licensing routes.

A prospective customer or memorandum of understanding is not a completed power-purchase agreement.

Confirm current application requirements and the sequencing of studies with the competent authority; a preparation enquiry does not require every future permit to be complete.
