Investment sector / Zimbabwe

Industry & enterprise

Develop productive businesses around a defined market, reliable inputs and efficient operations. Investment can support a new production line, an established enterprise, shared facilities or services that strengthen a value chain.

The enterprise perspective

Where value
can be created.

  • Manufacturing and light industry
  • Agro-processing and packaging
  • Building materials and fabrication
  • Equipment maintenance and business services
  • Enterprise expansion and shared production facilities

A useful starting point

Build the case,
one question at a time.

Bring the information you have. Unknowns become preparation tasks; they do not automatically prevent an initial conversation.

  1. What product or service will be sold, to whom, and with what evidence of demand?
  2. What inputs, premises, machinery, workforce and utilities are needed?
  3. What does the enterprise produce today, and what capacity or productivity change is proposed?
  4. What technical, commercial or compliance work needs funding before implementation?

Evidence to prepare

Make the proposition
possible to assess.

Describe what exists, its source and date, and what still needs confirmation. Sensitive records should follow an agreed private sharing process.

  • Company and ownership information, premises rights, available management accounts and operating records.
  • Product specifications, customer evidence, supplier arrangements and production or service-delivery assumptions.
  • Machinery and process plan, utilities, staffing, safety and waste arrangements, with quotations or estimates identified.
  • Capital and working-capital requirements, financial model, management capability and the proposed funding structure.

People & permissions

Know who
needs to be involved.

National Social Security Authority — Factories Inspectorate

Applicable factory, machinery and occupational safety requirements.

Relevant local authority

Applicable planning, building, health, fire and operating permissions.

Environmental Management Agency

Applicable environmental, waste, discharge and emissions requirements.

Factory and machinery requirements depend on the activity and installations; they are distinct from a company's incorporation.

Different products may need additional technical or market standards. Identify them for the actual product and destination.

Distinguish a supplier quotation, forecast or letter of interest from a binding supply or sales agreement.
