Investment sector / Zimbabwe

Mining & processing

Distinguish a mining right from the commercial project built around it. Exploration, extraction, mineral processing and technical services each need a clear scope, credible evidence and an appropriate partner.

The enterprise perspective

Where value
can be created.

  • Exploration and resource assessment
  • Gold, lithium and other mineral projects
  • Mineral processing and beneficiation
  • Mine rehabilitation and environmental services
  • Equipment, technical services and shared facilities

A useful starting point

Build the case,
one question at a time.

Bring the information you have. Unknowns become preparation tasks; they do not automatically prevent an initial conversation.

  1. Who holds the claim or other mining right, and who has authority to offer this transaction?
  2. What geological evidence exists, who produced it, and what uncertainty remains?
  3. Is the request for exploration, technical assistance, a joint venture, tribute arrangement, debt or a sale?
  4. How will access, water, power, processing, markets and rehabilitation affect the proposed operation?

Evidence to prepare

Make the proposition
possible to assess.

Describe what exists, its source and date, and what still needs confirmation. Sensitive records should follow an agreed private sharing process.

  • Available registration and inspection records, holder or syndicate details, claim schedule, site map and representative mandate.
  • Known disputes, encumbrances, overlapping rights or consent requirements, recorded for competent review.
  • Available geological reports, sampling and laboratory results, exploration or production records, with authorship, dates and limitations.
  • Proposed work programme, technical team, costed milestones, market or processing route and the funding or partner sought.

People & permissions

Know who
needs to be involved.

Ministry of Mines and Mining Development / relevant provincial mining office

Confirmation of the applicable mining-title, registration and inspection route.

Environmental Management Agency

Applicable environmental assessment, waste and rehabilitation requirements.

Relevant land and water authorities

Surface access, land permissions and water arrangements as applicable to the project.

A certificate copy or map is an input to rights verification; it is not proof of a commercially mineable resource.

Have a competent specialist distinguish exploration potential, resources, reserves and production assumptions. Do not convert an untested estimate into a reserve claim.

Match the offered transaction to the holder's actual rights and obtain specialist advice on required approvals before an agreement is presented as executable.
